This poem is about the only two 15 yr old
female jr. firefighters on a volunteer department:
The two of us alone,
Surrounded by men,
Excluded and ignored
Cuz we're not like them.
For us girls it's hard,
You push us about
Cuz we dare to be different -
Cuz we dare to stand out.
So we try to fit in
But you still bring us down.
Saying we don't belong here,
We have no place in this crowd.
We do what we want,
We're who we wanna be,
But you have a problem with that -
It's plain to see.
You can't take the fact
That we're emotionally stronger than you.
We can take everything
That you put us through.
We're doing what we love,
A passion that burns.
Like the fires we fight.
It's the women's turn...
