Mike Brown, of FEMA, called for the original "stand down" on 21 Jun3, 2005
to consider each individual firefighter's safety and health issues...in a
first time National Stand Down
Day. Brown is quoted as saying: "Too many firefighters are being injured
or killed in the line of duty and when they return to the firehouse. So many
of these deaths could have been prevented by firefighters learning about
health and safety, training in health and safety and applying healthy and safe
practices whether on the fireground, at the fire station or when they go
home."

Why: To show support for our paid and career brothers who put their lives on the line everyday. To foster a good attitude toward fire fighter safety; we will also bring our thoughts and prayers in-line with all the unacceptable LODDs and injuries.
